Fair Oaks Ranch officer honored for saving a life
Fair Oaks Ranch Police Officer Michael De Hoyos received the American Heart Association's Heart Saver Hero Award at a city council meeting, after saving a patient suffering a cardiac episode. According to Scott Burgess, assistant chief of emergency medical services for Bexar County Emergency Services District No. 4, De Hoyos responded to a cardiac arrest call at a residence on November 22, 2025. De Hoyos arrived before emergency medical services, started CPR, and used his AED once; the patient regained a pulse. The patient spent four days in the hospital and returned home to a completely normal life. Burgess presented the award, and Mayor Greg Maxton thanked De Hoyos for his service. Burgess also noted that all Fair Oaks Ranch police officers carry AEDs and receive training in their use, and that De Hoyos provided lifesaving assistance on another call in Bexar County that same month, alongside Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputies.
